Want to be more eco-friendly but don't want to break the bank while doing it? This is for you! Here are my fav ways to cut down on waste without compromising on the beauty!

  1. Switch to shampoo bars and soap bars there are even hair conditioner bars! A mind blowing 80 billion shampoo and conditioner plastic bottles get thrown away every year in the world that end up in landfill. Add to this you save water and also reduce transport emissions as they weigh less than the standard product. Have to admit to be slightly sceptical about this one but I recently suffered a bout of dry irritated skin and my partner recomended the soap that he uses which he said was cheap and leaves your skin less irritated. Within a week I was converted and it got rid of my horrible dry red patches on my face plus it lasts longer than the normal liquid facial washes I was using. I plan on beginning to use shampoo bars as my next experiment so watch this space! Take a peak at Holland and Barrett and Lush

  2. Refills! Lots of brands are now embracing the concept of refills so you don't have to spend your hard earned cash on yet more packaging. Simply put you literally finish using your fav product then go buy your refill and fill it up without the need for more expensive packaging. There are even refils for less obvious products like lipsticks and eyebrow pencils. So if you use it there is probably a refillable option out there plus added bonus is refills cost less than the original product. There are a great range of refill products at Lookfantastic and cultbeauty

  3. Ditch the wipes! Yeah I know I sell makeup remover pads so I simply can't not stick this on the list. Wipes are responsible for over 90% of blockages in the UK and we throw away 11 billion wipes a year. So if you haven't already switch to makeup remover pads plus added bonus they save on water and you save money on expensive cleansers. Grab yours here !!!

  4. Recycle, recycle! A lot of beauty brands actually alow you to either recycle instore or many online brands allow you to post them back and they will recycle it for you.

  5. Toothpaste tablets. Cut the packaging with this new innovative way to clean your pearly whites! This was a new one on me I have to admit but you can now buy toothpaste tablets that you crunch down and put onto a wet toothbrush then clean away. This is one I have yet to try to will keep you all posted on my thoughts on this one! Available at boots

Hope you enjoyed my little list happy eco beauty hunting!
